Sex and Migraines

The Daily Mail website has done it again... another classic about migraines. I shall let it speak for itself. But I will just add that if you have over 15 migraines a month, thus feel like you're being constantly stabbed, and are probably vomiting most days, it's not really surprising that you don't feel like getting jiggy with it? Cut the migraines and I suspect sales of Durex will go up. My mother reads this blog so I can't possibly comment further.

  1. Very much enjoyed your radio interview - you came across as a real professional! As for the Daily Mail - like you I couldn't possibly comment but for rather the opposite reason from you, ie my kids might read it!

  2. Hi Victoria
I found your blog through the FB page for the National Migraine Centre and love it! I also suffer from migraines and recently had to move back from Canada to live at home with the parents in London. Ironically I was working as a scientist in chronic pain research (but more on arthritis than migraines). In relation to your post above, did you know that there is one study that showed that the average migraine sufferer tends to have ~ 20% higher sex drive than the average person?! Apparently the average guy has ~20% higher sex drive than an average girl thus a female migraine sufferer has the same sex drive as an average male! Thought that was pretty interesting!
Anyway, keep up the witty blog

  3. Fiona - First, I'm also very glad not to be alone in having to move back in with the old parentals because of migraines. I keep telling them I'll return the favour when they become Geriatric. Secondly, these facts are amazing and I'm about to Tweet them.....I also suspected as much.... x

  4. Haha that is pretty much what I've said to them too! Also I just read out your Face of Migraine post to my parents and sister and they were all in stitches! I can so imagine having a similar conversation with my Mum! Am going to write a comment on your next post now because I want to ask you some questions about sleep and I guess it makes more sense to put it there

  5. Funny that pain, feeling sick, not being able to see straight and having motion intolerance might put you off a little 'ladies and gentleman' when you have a migraine! The Daily Mail should receive an award for stating 'the obvious' lol! However let's not tell them that sometimes it might actually help in the case of a low grade migraine.

  6. Does this mean all we need is some sex when a migraine attacks? Come to think of it, it's not a bad idea afterall just like using generic viagra in sex. Daily Mail has come up of a great article once again.
